Let your bags be with you
My name is Chris Beasley and the idea behind the Cabinbaggers.com website came about when I spent ages looking for the hand baggage and carry-on information for various airlines in one place. Yet I could not find anywhere through a simple Bingle (Bing or Google) search any website which had details for all airlines hand luggage allowances.
As carry-on bags are now being placed in the hold. A practice which is starting to become more acceptable. Therefore having accurate information for restrictions and associated allowances becomes invaluable. Cabinbaggers is about helping people from being delayed with their onward transit. Ensuring they have the right size, weight and numbers of hand luggage, so enabling travel which is both light and agile.
The penalty for your hand luggage being overweight can be financially light ($2 per kilo noted) but can lead to quite hefty penalties. On the BBC’s ‘Rip-Off Britain’ the consumer affairs program, they had a piece on cabin bags. A couple flying using multiple airlines on their second leg were told the cabin bag exceeded the allowance. It was placed in the hold and they were charged £280.
So I decided to create a website dedicated to gathering as much information about as many airlines as possible and what their terms and conditions are. My aim is to make this as simple but succinct as possible. Almost as important is being able to get to an airlines webpage which contains their full details. While I keep the information as up to date as possible it is always worth that double check.
There are some airlines you may be unfamiliar with, but another aim is to include these. Thereby allowing those times where passengers may connect to forward flights to plan their journey properly and make it a smoother experience.
As mentioned making it easy to click and go straight to each airlines webpage which has their full terms and conditions is a top objective. While the information on Cabinbaggers.com is updated regularly and this is pretty succinct, just clicking the airline name will take you there.
While most passengers travel are standard class, the data about these tickets is first. However we do outline the First, Business or Premier allowed carry-on luggage information to in the comments area.
For me there is nothing easier for a short stay break than walking on the aircraft with my bag, containing my personal items. Then being able to disembark, pass through any checks and be on my way to the local destination without that awful crushed wait for the ‘carousel of luggage’.
I would like to hear any stories, tips, anecdotes and anything other travelers would benefit from if you can spare the time to do this.
Have great Journeys & Let your bags be with you.
